Dave's Market Update - 24 May 2023

Dave's Market Update 24 May 2023 features celery, mandarins, gmax avos, imperfect lemons, imported garlic, all apples, imperfect packham pears, snackable carrots and red washed potatoes.

In Veg

Plenty of good vegetable options this week. Garlic has seen a massive drop in price from last week. The Australian-grown product is a bit like me, past it’s best! So now it’s largely imports and those people need to clear stocks to create space for what they have coming next. Celery, capsicums, and coriander all continue to ease in price. Snackable carrots are well supplied as are telegraph cucumbers and baby cukes. We have a very good line of red-washed potatoes in our stores at a very keen price this week.

In Fruit

Largely unchanged from last week, we have an excellent line of imperfect lemons significantly less expensive than the premiums, they are excellent value. Mandarins are still very inexpensive and all apples and pears are great. We a getting a dribble of Qld strawberries, however, I think it will be two weeks before these really come good. The large GMax avocados are fantastic eating and very well-priced. Our imperfect Packham pears are very well priced and I would say as good a quality as any of the chain stores' premium fruit.
