Introducing Quiet Hour at Our Erina Store

Quiet Hour

In our continuous effort to create a welcoming and inclusive shopping environment for all, we're excited to announce a new initiative at our Erina location. Starting Monday 11th March 2024, we will be trialing Quiet Hour daily from 7pm to 8pm, specifically designed to support our loyal shoppers with sensory needs seeking a quieter and more comfortable store atmosphere.

What is Quiet Hour?

Quiet Hour is an initiative aimed at providing a more inclusive shopping experience for individuals who may find the typical store environment overwhelming due to sensory sensitivities. During this hour, we are taking several measures to ensure a calm and inviting atmosphere for everyone:

  • Lowered Radio and Music Volume: We understand that noise can be a significant barrier for some of our shoppers. During Quiet Hour, we will turn off radio and music, minimising auditory distractions and creating a peaceful shopping environment.

  • No Trolleys: To reduce noise and movement around the store, the collection of trolleys will be paused during this hour. This step is taken to further ensure a serene and less crowded shopping experience.

  • No Replenishment Activities: We will also pause all replenishment activities during Quiet Hour. This means no restocking shelves or moving stock around, further contributing to a tranquil atmosphere.

  • No PA Announcements: Recognising that public address (PA) announcements can be startling or disturbing for individuals with sensory sensitivities, there will be no PA announcements during Quiet Hour. This measure helps in maintaining a quiet and undisturbed environment, allowing for a more enjoyable shopping experience.

Why Quiet Hour?

Our decision to introduce Quiet Hour comes from a place of understanding and compassion. We recognise the diverse needs of our community and want to ensure that everyone can enjoy a comfortable shopping experience. By providing a dedicated time with reduced sensory input, we aim to make our store more accessible to individuals with autism, sensory processing disorders, and anyone else who prefers a quieter shopping environment.

Join Us in Supporting Inclusive Shopping

We're inviting all our customers to support this initiative by respecting the Quiet Hour guidelines when shopping during this time. Your cooperation and understanding will play a significant role in making our store a more inclusive place for everyone.

This trial is a step towards understanding and catering to the needs of all our shoppers. We welcome your feedback and suggestions on how we can continue to improve and make our Erina store a comfortable shopping destination for everyone.
