"My pick this week are leeks.
Leeks are part of the onion and garlic family. They are grown in Victoria, and to a lesser extent the Sydney basin. High in vitamin C and fibre, they are a really healthy veg and are at their best now. Great in casseroles and soups, or as a standalone veg - I love them in white sauce!
By September, they start to go to seed, so enjoy them now; they are well priced and at their absolute best!" - David Harris
How to pick
Choose leeks with dark green leaves on top and a bright white bulb and base.
How to store
Trim the tops and store in a sealed plastic bag in the drawer of your refrigerator for up to one week.
