In Veg
“Not much change from last week. What we do have is a fantastic line of Victorian Broad beans. This will be as cheap and good as they get this season. They are a bit of work preparing them, however in my view well worth the effort.
The market oversupply of asparagus continues, and we will continue to sell them at the cheap ticket we have had for a fortnight now. All cucumbers have eased in price so look for great specials by this weekend. Nothing is really dear, and the abnormally dry weather is going to mean the prices will stay that way for a while. Enjoy the bargains!
In Fruit
This is the week the best flavoured mangoes from the territory get underway. This season, a much higher percentage of fruit than normal have scuff marks on the skin. Obviously, you don’t eat the skin, and the price differential or actually premium we will pay for clean fruit is in my view..not worthwhile. Have a look at our Imperfect range for value. In any case by this weekend, the mangoes will all be eating fantastically. Trays will be less expensive also…great for a family on these hot days.
Blackberries which have been our dearest berry have come right back in price and will be on special in all our stores. This week, we have some very good eating smaller rock melons available in our stores too. And of course, the blueberry bargains continue.”
