In Veg
“An excellent weekend for enjoying a wonderful salad as we relax in the long weekend and the start of daylight saving in NSW and perfect weather in Queensland.
Â
All cucumbers are inexpensive as are most lettuce particularly Icebergs, and some very good new crop Spring Truss tomatoes. If you really want to have the best-looking salad, we have the most beautiful edible flowers to sprinkle on your salad. They are quite dear however for the next few weeks, we will sell them at a lower margin to encourage higher sales. I am a real believer in this product.
Â
The flood of asparagus continues unabated, they are just so good we are eating them three times a week at our house. The other product that is now in full swing is rhubarb. The next few weeks is the best time of the year both from a price and a quality point of view. My other favourite spring veg is broad beans - look for fantastic specials over the next couple of weeks.

In Fruit
The best news this week is that the really good mangoes are now arriving from the Northern territory. By Friday or Saturday, these will be in store ready to eat this weekend.. bring on summer! It’s not a huge crop in the territory however the Queensland crop is huge, so the real bargains won’t be until mid-December.
Â
The massive blueberry crop is continuing, and we have specials in every store. My grandkids are eating two or three punnets every day. Citrus and apples are all well priced and avocados continue to be superb and inexpensive."Â
