We have had a bit of rain across the key grazing belts over the weekend. Let’s hope this is the start of an excellent spring feed period for all the growers. Spring lambs will start really soon, so you will see the size of product drop right off as we move from the Autumn to Spring lambs and the flavour profile will change as well. You should begin to notice a slightly sweeter taste to the lamb and a more lightly coloured red than the winter product. Straight into the specials on that note, and having looked at the lamb shoulders for this week earlier this morning, they are exceptional. These are brilliant slowly roasted, a bottle of red, or white, herbs and garlic 8 hours of patience and some nice leafy salad, this is the perfect way to feed the family well and deliciously.
We have the super popular pork fillets on special this week. You should buy up at this price and stick them in the freezer, everyone knows what to do with them
The Whole Veal Rumps this week are a bargain as well. Roast them whole, cut them into nice veal steaks, dice some for a quick cook casserole, it doesn’t matter what you do with this stock, it is beautiful soft and tasty. It should be a real hit. To round it out this week we have the award winning Salumi Chorizo packs. For mine, this is the best chorizo in the country, it has that awesome soft centred feel unlike anything else I have tried locally. If you haven’t tried it this is the week to get involved, I am sure you will be a convert for life.
