Dave's Market Update - 26 July 2023
In Veg
“Our bargain of the week is Kestrel potatoes. They are fantastic to cook, and quality is great, on special in all our stores this week. Red caps are also a bargain, they have been cheap for some time now, and weather permitting will stay that way. Broccoli and broccolini are both well supplied and very good in quality.
Iceberg lettuce has also eased in price and is very popular this week. For hearty winter veg, leeks and caulies both fit the bill. Plenty of options in this category, and nothing should change much in the next week. A new product that is attracting a lot of attention is the Fioretto cauliflower. They look amazing. Sold by the kilo, they are good value as you eat the whole product. Give them a try.
In Fruit
Berries continue to be the most popular lines in this category. Blackberries are still short however the other three are great value. The quality and prices are all really attractive, they are keeping well, and this week we have some true premium strawberries as well as our stock standard offer.
Avocado quality is really good and all apples are still at their best. The Washington state cherries are very good value and quality, as is all citrus. Speaking of citrus, there are some really good mandarins out in the shops, and my favourite juicing orange, the blood oranges get better every week.”
