This week, Amber Jewel plums are fantastic eating and great value in Queensland stores. At this time, they come from Victoria and shortly we will start west Australian fruit. To me, Amber Jewels are the first of the really good-eating plums. These plums are juicy and sweet with a small seed. Try them while they’re at their peak this week in a summer fruit salad, in school lunches, or add to yoghurt to create a perfect breakfast topping.
HOW TO PICK
Look for plump, firm plums, with no signs of wrinkled or split skin.
HOW TO STORE
Store at room temperature. Once ripe; store in the fridge for up to 5 days.
