CLIMATE CHANGE AFFECTS AUSSIE FAMILIES
Climate change is really starting to affect our farmers and in turn the food we eat. Currently, 93% of the fresh food we consume comes from Australia. Unfortunately, experts predict that agricultural production could decline significantly to a staggering 15% over the next 40 years if nothing is done about climate change.
As stated by John, a leafy green farmer in VIC, "There's no doubt climate change is a reality now. We're seeing abnormal temperatures. We're seeing abnormal fluctuations in weather patters...Climate change will certainly disrupt food security, there's no doubt about that."
AN APPETITE FOR CHANGE
Earth Hour was launched in Sydney in 2007 as a campaign of WWF - Australia, with 2.2 million people and 2100 businesses turning off their lights to show their support for action to tackle global warming. Today, Earth Hour is celebrated in more than 160 countries and 7000 cities and towns worldwide. The symbolic hour has grown into the world's largest grass roots movement for the environment, with Earth Hour-inspired projects and initiatives supported by WWF globally throughout the year.
