Dave's Market Update - 15 March 2023

Market Update | 15 March 2023

In Fruit

Shepard avocados from North Queensland are in full swing and are now in all stores. The crop is looking good albeit the harvest has been hindered by some heavy rainfall in recent times.

We are getting into the sweet spot of the plum season this week. As we wind down the peach and nectarine season plums really come to the fore. This week we are promoting the Black Kat plum . It is a good sized , very fleshy , sweet black plum with a relatively small stone.

Grapes are also fantastic this week. We will have an old favourite in stores this week with Thompson seedless white grapes from Robinvale on the bank of the Murray river in north western Victoria. This year the season is running the latest that I can recall but it has been worth the wait because the fruit is eating spectacular. In red grapes, the crimson seedless are on point, and in our premium grape range, the Sweet Celebrations and Autumn Crisp are well worth that little bit extra.

This weekend, temperatures set to soar. To provide some relief, we are putting seedless melon on an awesome promotion this weekend in all stores. The fruit is absolutely magnificent. Coming from Menindee in the far western corner of New South Wales, the melon is just the way we like them – Dark red , firm and very sweet.

In Veg

Vegetables supply in the markets remains steady this week with nothing really short in supply.

This week we have terrific quality Victorian celery on special in all stores and a super price. Other lines in good supply are coriander, celery, kale basil , broccolini, carrots and zucchini.
