Turmeric Porridge with Toasted Mixed Nuts

 

Turmeric Porridge with Toasted Mixed Nuts | Harris Farm Markets

INGREDIENTS: 

  • 2 1/2 Cup rolled oats 

  • 2 Cups of water 

  • 2 Cups of milk 

  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder

  • Pinch of salt 

  • 1 tsp sugar 

  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon 

  • T tsbp yoghurt (greek or coconut based)

 

METHOD: 

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°. In a baking tray lined with baking paper, palce mixed nuts and seeds and sprinkle over cinnamon and a pinch of salt. Drizzle with olive oil and mix together. Place in the oven for approximately 4 mins until golden brown. 

  2. Meanwhile, in a medium sized saucepan, mix together the oats, milk, water, salt, sugar and turmeric powder. 

  3. On a medium high heat, bring your pot to the boil while stirring constantly. Once your oats start to bubble, turn the pot down to low and let simmer for approx. 5 mins until it becomes creamy. Add some more water if necessary. 

  4. Serve your oats hot with a spoonful of yoghurt, toasted mixed nuts sprinkled over and a drizzle of honey, maple syrup or agave.
