Dawning Day The Bandit Gin

2020 was to be the first grape harvest for Dawning Day Farms in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, but the continual assault of heavy smoke from the Morton Fires extinguished all hope of a good vintage. With disaster came opportunity and a chance to collaborate. The smoke-tainted grapes were picked, and wine was made. Beauty rising from the ashes as our friends at Headlands Distilling Co. crafted our wine into gin. ‘The Bandit’ was born!

‘The Bandit’ is a botanical gin made with rainforest lime, lemon, orange peel, rose petals, native anise myrtle, strawberry gum, juniper, and coriander. Serve on the rocks, or if tonic’s your thing, add a slice of orange.

“A crown of beauty instead of ashes…joy instead of mourning.” Isaiah 61:3

About Dawning Day Farms

Dawning Day Farms is a small family owned and operated micro-vineyard located in Exeter in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales. This cool climate region called for varieties like Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, along with our personal favourite Gamay. Our 2021 vintage to be released later this year, the first wine picked and produced from our own block after last year’s grapes were smoke damaged from the Morton bush fires (all was not lost, we turned our grapes into ‘The Bandit’ gin!).

The idea behind Dawning Day was to combine our passion for wine and winemaking with the desire to help those in less fortunate situations. How does that work? We donate 10% of Dawning Day SALES to those in need.

Donations have been to places like: Orana Hub, Refugee Connect, RPA, Challenge Southern Highlands, Wollongong Animal Rescue, Weave, Dandelion Foundation, Smith Family, Highland Grace, Good Will Only, Cancer Foundation, RFS, Red Cross, Smith Family, The Eve Project, ASRC Asylum Seekers, Interplast, Oz Harvest, Rainbow of the Southern Highlands, and Shoalhaven Homeless.
