Poached Kanzi Apples

 

With pancakes or muesli, ice cream or yoghurt, or even the simplest of brekkies - spiced poached Kanzi® apples are the way to go. They're wholesome, warming and deliciously healthy.

Prep/cook time: 30 – 35 minutes


INGREDIENTS

  • 4-5 medium Kanzi® apples peeled, cored and sliced into wedges

  • Juice of 1 lemon

  • Juice of ½ orange

  • 3 tbsp of honey (maple syrup also works well)

  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder

  • ½ tsp ground clove

  • 1 tsp vanilla essence

 METHOD

  1. Combine all ingredients except your Kanzi® apples, in a large deep pot over medium heat. Stir to combine.
  1. Once the mixture starts to simmer, place the Kanzi® apples in and stir to coat all sides. Place a lid on slightly ajar, turn the heat down slightly and allow the apples to simmer for 15 minutes or until they become soft and are starting to become transparent. 
  1. Take the pot off the heat to cool down, then transfer to a container and place in the fridge for when you need them, or serve straight away while hot for a dessert.
