Fruits & Veg

Fruits & veg is a very important part of our daily diet. That is why we always encourage children to eat them. If you ignore eating fruits and vegetables then you might get sick easily and gain more weight. Vegetables should not be overcooked because they become tasteless and consequently its nutrients will be gone.

Required Amount

Each person needs to consume at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables each day. Perhaps you might think that this is quite a lot for one day. But actually it is not. Let’s try to investigate the equivalent of one serving.  A medium sized fruit or vegetable is equivalent to one serving. For instance, one serving can equal to one apple or one carrot

Eaten as Snacks

Fruits & veg can be eaten as snacks. You can bring it to your office and eat them during coffee breaks. Instead of eating chips, you can eat fruits. It can also be handy while travelling on a long journey. If you feel hungry at night then eat fruits & veg as your snacks.

Soups and Salads

You can also avail more health benefits by making a vegetable soup. Making a fruit salad or a vegetable salad is also another way of obtaining the accurate serving that you need. As much as possible, you should try to use different varieties of fruits and vegetables. The best and the simplest way of eating fruits & veg are to eat them raw. Choose only fresh produce rather from canned products. If you need your fruits and vegetables delivered to your home or office then you can order them at Harris Farm Markets. We have fresh produce such as Corella pear, seedless water melon, oranges navel large and many more.
