Pick of the Week - Imperfect Mandarins

Many of you have commented to me and I agree with how disappointing the mandarins were in May. That was the Queensland fruit. We are now sourcing from Southern regions and it’s a different situation altogether. This fruit is far juicier, and I can recommend it to you. This southern fruit is never quite as sweet or as large as the Queensland fruit. This week, we have a line of mandarins that we are selling as Imperfect because they’re smaller than what we generally sell and what the market prefers, but its inexpensive, juicy and the best mandarin so far this year. Perfect for the school lunchbox or a snack any time of day.

HOW TO PICK
For a juicier mandarin, pick fruit which feels heavy for its size, has glossy skin and is softer to touch. Avoid fruit that is rock hard and does not yield a little to pressure.

HOW TO STORE
Store in a cool place for up to a week. If you would like to keep them longer, store in the fridge.
