Josephine pears are a very sweet medium-sized pear. They finish earlier in the season than some of the other varieties and are eating very well right now. They have an amazing flavour and make an interesting and rewarding change to the far more common Packham pears. At their best and at a very attractive price in all HFM stores this week.
HOW TO PICK
Pears ripen off the tree so you will normally need to give them a couple days after purchase for best eating. Ripe fruit will give a bit when pressed gently near the stem.
HOW TO STORE
Store at room temperature in a fruit bowl.
