Dave's Market Update
In Veg
"Things are not so plentiful in the veg world this week. Snacking tomatoes are still excellent value with NSW stores focused on Sweet Delights and QLD on Mix-a-mato. Both very good value in NSW. Prepack corn and Telegraph cucumbers are still very reasonable.
Iceberg lettuce and zucchini especially the imperfect zucchinis are great value. Broccoli has eased in NSW, not so much in QLD. Sunday will be our last delivery of Christmas trees, so if you are looking I wouldn’t leave it past Monday to secure your tree. A good steady Christmas coming up I think”

In Fruit
Nectarines are great. To me, the whites are fantastic and there are some smaller yellow varieties in store at rock bottom prices. Mainland cherries are superb. We have storms coming this week. I know the bush is desperate for rain, but I do hope they bypass the cherry growers. We do have 1kg and 2kg boxes that are of fabulous quality in store now. Imported lemons are dear, look to the imperfects, nets or small limes as a cheaper alternative.
In berries, the strawberries are looking good and reasonable, the other three are transitioning to southern areas and these are running a little late so it won’t be good news on that front.
Premium apricots are starting to ease in price and there are some quite good eating imperfects in store this week. Plums have started this week, and the lychee season is in full swing. My preference to eat is still the very small seeded (so more edible content) Fay Zee Siu variety, look out for these."

Dave's Pick of the Week - Tray Sale Mangoes
“Undoubtedly the value offer of the week is our trays of mangoes at the ticket our customers have been loving for around 20years. All stores’ fantastic KP mangoes premium sized fruit in fantastic condition. In NSW, we are able to offer the R2E2 variety at that price as well but not in QLD at this stage at that price. Talk to your friends or neighbours maybe share a tray? At twenty bucks each, that is a serious bargain! They will have to be dearer in ten days or so, however, these are for eating over the next week or so not to keep for Christmas. I had one for breakfast today, it was superb."
