Dave's Market Update NSW - 8 March 2023

A collage of seasonal fruit and veg

In Fruit

This week we have fantastic value with our punnets of figs. They donโ€™t get any better than mid-March, especially if the weather is hot which it certainly is this week. White seedless grapes are well supplied and inexpensive, even the premium loose fruit has eased in price.

Lemons have also eased, and those beautiful white peaches are still coming on strongly. We are in the process this week of finishing up with our wonderful Hass avocados from WA, our last load is stuck somewhere in South Australia at this stage thanks to Scottโ€™s transport dramas. The best plum this week is the September Candy variety, another great eating plum.

In Veg

In NSW this week we have a couple of fantastic tomato options. We have truss cherry tomatoes at $2.99 kg which is cheaper than our premium gourmet tomatoes, it is most unusual for this to happen. We also have a near-perfect line of good eating gourmet tomatoes, better than many of the premiums out there.

Fennel remains very reasonable and baby cukes are also a bargain. Imperfect black zucchini has fallen in price and beautiful hand-picked beans are still very inexpensive. Corn and celery are still great bargains.
