Dave's Market Update - 4.05.22

In fruit: All HFM stores have a fantastic half-price special on Kanzi apples this week. Of all the new generation (not really that new anymore) apples, this one is the winner in my view. Gold kiwis from New Zealand are now in full swing; most stores will have specials over the next few weeks on this delicious product. Although there were multiple transport problems and hence, a very erratic supply, the USA navel oranges have been fantastic eating this year & we are farewelling them with a great special in our stores this week as we now welcome the Aussie Navel season. All pears are good eating, but my pick this week are the brown pears, formally known as Beurre Bosc. Papaya continues to be terrific value and raspberries are the best of the berries.

In veg: There are signs of the vegetable market easing a little. Broccoli, which has been horrendously dear, will be half last week's price this week as new season Queensland crops get underway. Cocktail potatoes are very good value this week and radish is also easing. Truss tomatoes, though not by any means cheap, are less expensive than last week and the same can be said for both corn and red caps.
