IN VEG:
The very hot weather we have finally started to experience is not great for most vegetables except for corn which mostly comes from Victoria at this time of the year and is starting to ease in price. Also from down South, we have good quantities of cauliflowers, broccoli, Brussels sprouts and Iceberg lettuce, all are good quality and inexpensive. The local Lebanese cucumbers have held up surprisingly well and Roma tomatoes are also still well priced.
IN FRUIT:
The first of the new season Gala's are in store! They are fresh, crisp, picked daily and by next week, should be well priced. Peaches, nectarines, mangoes and grapes continue to be superb eating and well-priced. Schools returning this week has lifted banana sales, however they are still a little oversupplied and have remained inexpensive. Limes continue to be a bargain and some of the better eating plums are instore now.
