IN VEG:
The market is well supplied with most lines. Bargains for the week are our yellow snacking tomatoes, they are very sweet and very inexpensive, as well as truss and Sampari’s, all great quality and well-priced. Corn is cheaper than it has been for a while, as are Dutch carrots and Lebanese cucumbers. Both fennel and capsicums continue to be oversupplied and inexpensive. The pumpkin market has peaked and will now get cheaper over the coming month.
IN FRUIT:
A great week for berries coming up. Raspberries and strawberries continue to be inexpensive and blackberries will join them as the week progresses. We transition from old season Hass to new season Shepard avocados this week, see my pick of the week for more information. Australian lemons and Imperfect lemons are now in full swing and prices are easing as orchards in Queensland ramp up supply.
As well as Gala apples, we now have good eating Fuji’s available. Peaches and nectarines are still eating well and my pick of the plums this week are Amber Jewels. Both Williams pears and all grapes continue to be at their peak, all inexpensive and eating fantastically. Figs, my favourite Autumn fruit, are just fantastic.
