Dave's Market Update - 23.06.2021
IN VEG:
A good week coming up for winter veg! We have a fantastic line of Dutch Cream potatoes from one of our farmers in north west Tasmania. They are fresh, top quality, well priced potatoes. We also have a very good choice of winter vegetables available this week. All our stores have broccoli at around half last week's price and broccolini and Iceberg lettuce has eased as well. We have cauliflowers far cheaper than last week and an abundance of Brussels Sprouts pouring in from the markets.
IN FRUIT:
The best news this week is the massive drop in the price of papaya. It is a beautiful fruit that is at its best in mid-winter and the price has halved in one week! It’s the perfect breakfast fruit and now very affordable. Apples are excellent right now and we have very attractive prices on the larger fruit this week, especially for Pink Ladies and Granny Smiths. Pears are good value as well. This is the time of year that we have overlapping varieties of mandarins and every week is different. Personally, I still love Imperials but everyone has their own view!
