In Fruit:
Avocados continue to be inexpensive, sourced from the Toowoomba district where the best Queensland avocados are grown. As always, navel oranges are at their absolute best in mid-winter. Our economical range is the 3 kg net option for families.
Mandarins are also of outstanding value – it’s the last week to enjoy imperials. Hicksons are nice, juicy and inexpensive though I personally prefer the dearer Honey Murcotts. Blueberries are now the best berries even though they have had too much rain. Papaya and Kiwi Gold are both excellent and delicious. Our imperfect lemons continue to be cheap and juicy.
In Veg:
Not much change from last week in the world of vegetables. Potatoes are still excellent value. We have a fantastic line of loose Kestrel potatoes in all our stores this week. Our 2 kg bag of washed potatoes is good value in all our NSW stores. We will hopefully have this over in QLD over the weekend.
Both Kumera and imperfect Kumera are still excellent quality and inexpensive. Fennel and Brussel sprouts are very reasonably priced. This week, our very popular snackable carrots are back on our shelves in time for the back-to-school week.
