Dave's Market Update - 2.3.22
In fruit: As with vegies, fruit has been really badly affected by adverse weather. This week, our Sydney stores have an excellent, very inexpensive line of Gala apples. In Queensland, it’s Imperfect Pink Lady apples instead. We still have plenty of North Queensland bananas. William pears are great value, as are avocadoes; where we have on offer both old season Hass and Reeds (they both don’t keep all that well though), which are both eating superbly. We also have the new season Sheppard avocadoes, which will be in most of our shops by the weekend.
In veg: What a disaster this week is for our buying team! There really isn’t a vegetable that is less expensive than last week, except maybe beans, and that could easily change as the heavy rain moves south. We have some good kestrel potatoes in packs and loose but that’s about it!
