Dave's Market Update - 17.03.21
IN VEG:Â
Our feature vegetable this week is midi cos lettuce, now at less than half last week’s price. We have very good 2 kg prepacks of Kestrel potatoes in our stores this week and still loads of asparagus. In tomatoes, truss continue to be cheap and for a snacking option, Sampari tomatoes and good old fashioned cherry tomatoes are both great quality and cheap. Shallots are a bargain again and capsicums and Imperfect kumera are both great value
IN FRUIT:Â
Apples and pears are now in full swing! Everything is well priced, great eating and new season except Pink Lady apples which, though still good, are not new season. The new season Grannies are best for cooking right now, they don’t become an eating apple until late April. Plums continue to be the pick of the stonefruit and they are a much better option now than peaches or nectarines. The Queensland citrus is fantastic and all berries are very good except possibly blueberries which are coming to the end of their season. As was the case last week, our figs and Sheppard avocadoes are superb.
