IN VEG:
Not much news on the vegetable front this week. Truss tomatoes remain very cheap and Sampari are the best option of the snacking tomatoes. Iceberg lettuce, zucchini (especially Imperfects) and Dutch carrots are still all very well priced and eating fantastically. My bargain of the week is Imperfect kumera which is very good and very cheap as well as Australian asparagus.
IN FRUIT:
This is the time of year that we change from West Australian Hass avocadoes to the new season Shepard variety from North Queensland. We will likely have some of each in store for most of the coming week. The black skin Hass are the best eating however, this late in the season they can be very tricky and get overripe very easily. They need to be stored in the fridge.
Limes are still great value but lemons are fast coming back to the same price. Both raspberries and strawberries are great value this week. New season Gala apples and Williams pears are now at their best and grapes now fantastic and in season with Thompson seedless. Peaches, Nectarines, figs and rockmelons round off a very good fruit offering this week.
