Dave's Market Update - 14.10.20

IN FRUIT
The weather in Darwin has damaged the mango crop up there so there will be lots of marked fruit available this week. The best fruit is about a week away when we move down to Katherine and the quality will improve substantially. Berries continue to be well supplied as does papaya. Local stone fruit is getting underway and it will get better every week. So a bit of a quiet before the storm for the next week or so but then everything will happen at once with cherries, lychees, apricots, peaches and nectarines arriving soon.

IN VEG
The market is very similar to last week. Asparagus continues to be the best value of all vegetables and mushrooms are really well supplied and have eased in price this week. Dutch carrots, rhubarb, iceberg lettuce and zucchini, especially the Imperfects, all remain cheap and excellent quality. Sampari and petite snacking tomatoes are both still very reasonable. Beans are good and plentiful, and all the leafy greens are fabulous quality. It’s amazing to compare this year with the very difficult time we had a year ago. We live in an amazing country that when it rains, we can feed our population many times over.
