IN VEG:
Quite a few vegetable options in our stores this week. Cherry tomatoes, eggplant, broccoli, celery, fennel, Chinese cabbage and cauliflowers are all substantially cheaper than last week. We have a flush of coriander from Victoria at bargain prices this week and both spinach and English spinach are well supplied. Lots of bargains and lots of options in veg all week .
IN FRUIT:
This week we are promoting Kanzi apples! One of the newer varieties now available, they’re a very popular apple and currently at a great price. Enjoy them now at their freshest and best! We have lots of very good citrus available also. Navels are coming down in price and lemons, especially our Imperfect line, are great value. Imperial mandarins are having a great season with very little dry fruit, which some years can be a massive problem for this variety.
With avocados, the major supermarkets are switching now to the Hass variety which go black as they ripen. At this stage in the season, there is a good percentage of these that are somewhat immature and have as much flavour as a glass of water. I think it’s a week or so early to make this change so at Harris Farm, we now have fantastic green skinned fruit known as the G Max 20. It has all the attributes of the Shepard avo and is now at the peak of their season.
Kiwi gold are also in full swing and good eating. Lots of choices of fabulous eating fruit to choose from this week!
