Dave's Market Update - 10.6.20

IN FRUIT:
Really not much to talk about with either fruit or veg this week. In fruit, navel oranges, grapefruit and pears, especially Imperfect Packham’s remain good value. As discussed elsewhere in this blog, the little Imperfect mandarins we are selling this week are really good value and good eating. Crimson grapes are the best by far. Bananas don’t look good because of frost and cold in the growing areas but they are still good eating. The imported stone fruit season has commenced, and our weak Australian dollar is making this category very expensive this year however the quality and flavor is excellent, especially the yellow peaches. The supply of berries continues to improve, they are all now eating well, however the raspberries are not keeping well at all and I would suggest you don’t try to store these for more than a day or two. Papaya is starting to really come good and prices will ease over the week compared to where they have been.

IN VEG:
In veg, also not much change. Best value is to be found in prepacked potatoes and Spanish onions. Jap pumpkin, Broccoli and cauliflowers are also easing in price.
