Dave's Market Update - 03.03.21
IN VEG:Â
We have some very good options in veg this week. Asparagus is now from overseas and is very cheap for this time this year. Truss tomatoes remain very cheap and we have fantastic snacking tomato options in all stores as well. We have a new low carb potato on offer this week, it’s in a 1.5 kg prepack and very attractively priced. Fennel and corn have further eased in price and both are real bargains this week. Our staple 1 kg carrots, whole Jap pumpkin and Imperfect kumera also remain inexpensive and great quality.
IN FRUIT:Â
This looks to be a very good week for fruit indeed. Berries are all good value with raspberries the best bet while blueberries are not at their best yet. In citrus, the imported navel oranges have fallen in price and lemons continue to be a little over supplied. Punnet figs are really good and probably as cheap as they get. Williams pears and all apples are in full swing and are both good eating and good value. Try our Imperfect galas for a really good value piece of fruit, perfect for the lunchbox.
Plums and grapes are really good and for something different, we have some excellent guavas in our shops. Some very good Autumn Fuyu fruit have started while fresh pistachios are at their best and quinces are now underway.
