Look for plums with even colouring and a slight give under gentle pressure. Sweet Rosa is a summer variety — ripen at room temperature and refrigerate once ready. Eat within a few days of ripening for the best flavour.
Eat fresh out of hand, slice into a summer salad with rocket and ricotta, use in a light tart or cake, or simmer briefly into a compote for serving over yoghurt or ice cream.
