Pick of the Week - White Nectarines

"Our white nectarines are my pick of the week.
Until now, the stone fruit has been a little hit or miss, however, this week it is really worth taking home.  Peaches and nectarines are both good, but first choice for me are the white nectarines. As always there are fantastic bargains to be had with our Imperfect range.
Most of the fruit is the relatively new Polar Light variety, so named for obvious reasons. This fruit is grown in the Mildura area which has the best fruit at this time of the year.  Our main grower, Tony Siciliano, tells us this season is shaping up to be a great season and that the fruit is eating well."

Dave's Market Update

In Veg

“Far fewer vegetable options this week but lots of fruit to choose from. In veg, we do have basil at a reduced price and the sweet delight snacking tomatoes are virtually the same price as the gourmets and Romas. Telegraph cucumbers although a little dearer are still a bargain and Iceberg lettuce is easing quickly.”

In Fruit

“Suddenly we have good eating stone fruit coming in quantity. The mangoes especially the imperfects from Katherine are fantastic eating and fantastic value.
Cherries are really good as they have been, and we see prices starting to ease again. Apricots are dear and eating well (you must wait until they are soft and ripe) however, the smaller imperfect fruit is quite reasonably priced.

Peaches are coming good, but the real movement has been with nectarines. In my opinion especially the white varieties, all these impacts the demand for other fruit and we are seeing banana prices starting to ease to ease as a result.
This is the time of the year that our Aussie lemons tighten up and we are switching to imports , however limes are easing and I think will be cheaper than lemons very soon.
Avocados and papaya are both good value and we are starting to see some good lychees cheaper than they have been appearing instore.”
