"Kestrel's have become popular of recent times due to their versatility in cooking and great taste. They are at a fantastic price across all Harris Farm Markets stores this week. They are smooth to mash and have a good texture after microwaving; they're also excellent for roasting.

Bursting with vitamins and minerals and when served with their skins, are a great source of fibre. The purple skin marks are formed naturally by antioxidants called anthocyanin which are also found in foods like blueberries. Those purple spots are completely natural and perfectly safe to eat. They are grown in the Southern Mallee district in South Australia. Look out for these purple eyed beauties in store today"

In Veg

“Our best special in veg this week is the kestrel potatoes. Well priced, clean and superb cooking.

Caulies are falling in price and will be a bargain for the weekend. Other products to help the household budget include celery, broccolini, shallots and coriander. I am really enjoying the burst of Heirloom tomatoes this week, very cheap for mid-winter and they our best eating tomato.

In Fruit

"Not much change since last week. It’s still not warm enough in southern QLD to bring on big numbers of the strawberries. However, what we are getting are eating superbly.

Blueberries from further north are really good and increasing in numbers and the first of the Coffs Harbour fruit is now starting too. Not as large as the more northern fruit, however selected brands are eating well also. The imported cherries are really good as are our G Max avocados, which are cutting more reliable than the Hass variety (the black fruit).

All citrus and apples are good but especially good are the Imperial mandarins from southern farms. Any fruit from QLD now is past its best but the southern fruit eats superbly."
