At Harris Farm Markets, we’re committed to doing more For the Greater Goodness, and making sustainable choices is at the heart of that. That’s why we’ve recently introduced the Bag It Right hierarchy, offering plenty of eco-friendly ways to carry your goodies home:

-
BYO Bag: Bring Your Own every time you shop, or if you’ve ‘accidentally’ bought too much, grab a free box or another BYO bag from our range to use over and over again.
-
Grab a FREE Box: Always available & always FREE. Just grab a box from our friendly team to carry your goodies home. Pop it in the recycling when you get home.
-
BYO Bag Exchange: Need a FREE bag to get your goodies home? You can grab one from our stores. Or, if you’ve got too many reusable bags at home, bring them to our stores for other shoppers to use.
-
Buy a Recycled Paper Bag for only 20¢ each: We’ve sourced 100% recycled paper bags that you can reuse next time, and when you’re done, recycle!

The Impact of Paper Bags

Did you know that paper bags currently contribute over 180 tonnes of carbon emissions and create around 8 tonnes of waste each year? That’s a lot of impact for something used so briefly. By encouraging the use of reusable options, we aim to reduce these numbers dramatically and embrace more sustainable shopping habits.

Why It Matters

Shifting to reusable bags isn’t just about cutting waste—it’s about building a community that cares for the planet. Every small change we make today helps create a healthier tomorrow.

We understand that this transition might take some getting used to, and we’re here to help. If you find yourself caught off guard, don’t hesitate to ask our friendly team for assistance. Need a paper bag but upset about the charge? Let us know, and we’ll provide one for free as a one-time courtesy.

Let’s Bag It Right, Together

With every free box, exchanged bag, or reusable tote, you’re helping us reduce emissions, cut waste, and protect the planet we all share.
