“Our focus is on strawberries this week in the fruit category and they are just fantastic. Blueberries are still also good but there is a few less around due to rain in the Coffs area where lots even most of the berries are from at this time of the year.
It’s the end of the season for the cherry imports so buy very soon or you will be waiting until the end of October when the Australian fruit commences.
In the meantime, Kiwi Gold is at its best and well-priced to boot. It’s a good substitute for the cherries.
All citrus is at its peak. Our special on Dekopon mandarins was very well received by our customers. I juiced the last few I had at home this morning, they made a really delicious juice. Navels are at their prime and all apples are eating well.

“A little less available in the vegetable category this week. However, there is a few lines available to help the budget. Both imperfect zucchini and broccoli lead the charge, all our shops will have either broccoli or broccolini on special this week.
Twin pack Cos lettuce has fallen in price. 1KG carrots are great value and a family favourite as always. Telegraph cucumbers continue to be well priced and by this weekend, we will have baby Cukes on special in all stores.”

Dave's Pick of the Week - QLD Strawberries
“Strawberries are really as good as they get and I am fairly certain as cheap as they will get for top quality fruit this season. All the fruit is fully mature and as well is keeping fantastically. At two dollars a punnet, they are my go-to breakfast this week.
Usually by the end of August, rain and heat spoil the QLD crop. However, there is no sign of this happening at the moment. The berries should be kept in the fridge but taken out (and also out of the punnet) about half an hour before being eaten .”
