Dave's Market Update & Pick of the Week - QLD Strawberries & Tender Stem Baby Broccoli - 13 August 2025

Dave's Market Update

*Whoops! This week’s email included an old market update by mistake. The blog post below has the correct and current market update. Apologies for any confusion.

In Veg

"This week there is a plethora of fantastic vegetable options in stores. Baby broccoli is on promotion in all stores at a price we only see a handful of times a year. Supply of Baby broccoli is very strong as it is coming to markets from multiple growing regions including Werribee in Victoria and the Lockyer valley in southeast Queensland.

There is a flush of Celery in the markets this weeks so we have an amazing promotion in all stores.

Others lines which are well supplied and great value include green shanghai, continental parsley , shallots, cauliflower, snow peas, brussels sprouts and broccoli.

The pick in tomatoes this week is truss tomatoes. They are the cheapest and best option in this category this week. We have truss tomatoes on a fantastic promotion in all stores this week."

In Fruit

"The long anticipated arrival of Queensland strawberries has finally happened. With the days slowly stretching out and the night temperatures on the rise the volumes of strawberries arriving into the markets are increasing. Quality is amazing and this week we are retaining at the lowest price point seen so far this season!

Papaya numbers are on the increase, as too are pineapples, and the Australian navel orange season is in full swing with the fruit eating amazing. Blood oranges and Cara Cara oranges are also in their peak of the season."

Dave's Pick of the Week - Strawberries

"There are so many great things happening in the markets this week we have decided to have two picks of the week. Tender stem baby broccoli and Queensland strawberries. Both are excellent quality and amazing value."
