Dave's Market Update & Pick of the Week - Broccoli - Wednesday 23 July 2025

Dave's Market Update

In Veg

“There is a broad range of vegetables that are well supplied on offer this week. These include red radish, all caps but particularly red caps, all carrots, particularly snackable carrots and Dutch carrots, Tender stems baby broccoli, Chinese cabbage, broccoli, Continental parsley, Iceberg lettuce, fennel and imperfect kumera.
The supply of Mushroom continues to be excellent, and we have an excellent weekend offering on mushroom cups this week.

Tomatoes are affordable again! Tomatoes have been expensive for the last month or so, however this appears to be coming to an end.

With temperatures on the rise in Bowen in North Queensland over the last week or so has seen the tomato crops gaining momentum and supply is substantially increasing.

This week we are promoting imperfect gourmet tomatoes. Windy conditions in the growing area have given the fruit some rub marks, but rest assured they are perfect eating and at a price this week that imperfect tomatoes should be back on the shopping list.

This week we also are promoting Cherry tomatoes and Grape tomatoes which are the cheapest they have been for a while.”

In Fruit

“This week we have a strong offering in citrus, particularly navels. Navels are at the peak of the season; the quality is amazing and excellent value.  Cara Cara’s are great eating and Seville oranges are on range in all stores this week.

Blood oranges are on offer in all stores this week. The retail for blood oranges has fallen substantially in the last week and they are on promotion in all stores.

We have our Harris farm freshly squeezed blood orange and mandarin juice in a 300ml and 1litre format available in all stores. For those who haven’t experienced Mandarin or blood orange juice give it a try, it is incredibly good. The 1litre mandarin is on promotion in all stores this week.”
