Dave's Market Update - 20.10.21
In fruit: We are now at that time of year when we move from Darwin down to Katherine, with our Territory mangoes. The Darwin fruit is still great to eat, but does not look at all good; it’s marked but delicious. This means we have a glut of Imperfect fruit in stores and at very cheap prices; great to eat but not pretty to look at! Blackberries have also eased in price and are very good quality. All stores have Bravo apples on special this week. The colour is most unusual, however they are excellent to eat. Avocadoes, papaya and topless pines all continue to be very good quality and very reasonably priced!
In veg: The best news in veg this week is the drop in tomato prices. Truss have eased, as have our stack tomatoes, and every store has a really good special with some sort of snacking tomato. There are lots of bargains to be found in stores with coriander, radish and cos lettuce. All of our herbs, including basil are superb quality this week, and prices are easing. The end of season fennel and caulies are oversupplied and inexpensive. There are some great bargains to be had this week!
