In fruit: This week we have more of the same as last week; strawberries are a little cheaper again, but still at their absolute best and blueberries are not far behind them. Imperial mandarins are finished, however, both the Murcotts and the Afourers are really good and will stay that way for a month or so. Avocados and pears are inexpensive too, and will stay that way.
All apples are good this time of the year; we are selling a really fantastic line of Batlow Fuji’s this week. I know everyone loves Pink Ladies but these Fuji’s are really something special and worth a try! Kensington Pride mangoes are on, but not yet at their best; I would caution you to ensure the fruit you buy and eat is ripe - they will only improve over the next month. Blood oranges are now in full swing, great quality, falling in price for the next 6 or so weeks; I start my day at the moment with a freshly squeezed HFM Blood Orange Juice. Overall, it’s really a great week for fruit.
In veg: We have some superb Winter vegetables on offer in our shops this week. We lead off with broccoli and Dutch carrots, both around half of last week's price. Snow peas, and our very good quality, hand-picked beans, are also well supplied and way cheaper than they have been. Purple sweet potato has eased in price, as have cauliflowers and Brussel sprouts. Overall, a variety of choices available this week for you to continue to develop your home cooking skills!
