Dave's Pick of the Week - Truss Tomatoes
My pick this week is Truss Tomatoes. The onset of Spring usually results in a Truss Tomato flush. This has definitely been the case this year, however, due to colder than usual temps in all the areas these tomatoes grow, the crops have been held back a few weeks. We are finally off and running now, with Truss on promotion in all of our stores this week!
HOW TO PICK
Truss Tomatoes ripen on the vine, so they should have a rich deep red colour. The vine itself is in indicator of quality and should be a vibrant green.
HOW TO STORE
Store your toms at room temperature, out of the sun and with the stem side down to help prevent moisture from leaving, and bacteria from entering the tomato!
