Fuyu Fruit is a non-astringent persimmon with a beautiful deep orange colour, a crisp texture when fresh and a honey-sweet flavour that's unlike any other autumn fruit. Eat it firm, like an apple, or let it soften for a more jammy richness.
Choose fruit that is firm with deep, even orange skin and no blemishes. Fuyu is at its best in autumn and early winter. Store at room temperature and eat firm for crunch, or leave to soften slightly for a sweeter, more custard-like texture.
Slice fresh over a salad with rocket and walnuts, fan onto a cheese board, dice into an autumn fruit salad, or bake into a pudding or cake.
