Look for fruit that feels heavy and has fragrant, slightly textured skin. Daisy mandarins are at their peak from late winter into spring. They keep well at room temperature for a few days or in the fridge for up to two weeks.
Eat fresh as a snack, segment into a salad with rocket and shaved parmesan, squeeze over pan-fried fish, or use the zest to brighten a cake or dressing.
