Pear Imperfect Each is the same sweet, aromatic pear with a few surface marks or an irregular shape that make no difference to the flavour or texture. Great eating fruit at a better price point.
Look for pears that give very slightly near the neck — the universal ripeness test. Imperfect pears may vary in variety and appearance but eat just as well as full-grade fruit. Once ripe, refrigerate and eat within a few days.
Eat fresh out of hand, slice onto a cheese board with gorgonzola or aged pecorino, poach in spiced syrup, or bake into a tart or crumble.
