Pick of the Week - New Season Sebago Potatoes

“My pick this week is new season Sebago potatoes from the Bundaberg region in Queensland. We start the season in western NSW and now move to QLD and then down to Victoria and possibly Tassie as well, though transport is an issue from this island. 
Brushed potatoes of course are not as sensitive to sunlight as the washed potatoes we have been promoting so there is no need to refrigerate them, just store them in a cool dry place.

It seems we are lucky enough to find a top quality potato nearly every week which is great for the family budget. At HFM, we are very aware of the stress many households face in their weekly bills, and we are committed to doing what we can to easing this burden.”

In Veg

“The weather feels more like well into spring than the end of winter and the vegetable crops are behaving that way too. Rhubarb, English spinach, celery, and Iceberg lettuce are now at price points we would expect through November.

Prepack carrots are great value as well. We have a fantastic, brushed potato special across the company as well. We have now moved up to Bundaberg for this line. It’s a new crop top quality affordable potato, put a few away for next week these spuds are real value.”

In Fruit

“Strawberries and blueberries continue to be the focus of our fruit sales. Blackberries are not plentiful and raspberries continue to be very good quality and reasonably priced.
With this incredible weather this week, seedless melon has come into its own. The quality is excellent again and the price around half that of last week. It feels that summer is underway today not spring.

As well, the Murcott mandarins are eating really well and are really quite inexpensive. All the citrus is eating well and not dear.

With apples, can I suggest you try our lunch box lines. The fruit is a little smaller than the premium lines (hence lunch box) but considerably cheaper and great value.

This week, we have excellent quality and value Kanzis and Bravos available in the stores. Enjoy the savings!”
