Pick of the Week - Papaya
Papaya is plentiful and excellent quality this week. It’s usually well into spring until these prices prevail. It’s a fantastic breakfast dish on its own, or mixed with cereal and berries as well. There are lots of other options in salads or just as a snack – it’s a very healthy fruit. Winter and Autumn are when this fruit is best eating.
HOW TO PICK
Look for firmish golden coloured papaya with a sweet tropical aroma. The skin should be free of soft spots. If cut, pick papaya with vibrant red coloured flesh.
HOW TO STORE
Store at room temperature till it yields to gentle pressure. Once ripe, store in the fridge for a few days.
