With the Riverina district ramping up supply, there are some great eating rockmelons available this week. January and February, in my opinion, are the best months for rockmelons - particularly whilst Griffith and Hay dominate the supply of the marketplace. Largely due to traditional varieties and growing practices, the flavour these farmers get into their melon is difficult to replicate. This week rockmelon is great value and the perfect way to enjoy a summers day. A must for this week’s shopping list.
HOW TO PICK
Use your nose - ripe rockmelons will give off a fragrance when pressed gently (near the stem end).
HOW TO STORE
Store whole at room temperature. Once cut, however, cover and store in the fridge.
