Pick of the Week - Loose Corn
The market is well supplied for loose corn this week. The overlapping of the Sydney basin and Victorian growing regions has seen strong numbers of high quality corn arriving daily into the markets.
I much prefer the loose corn to the pre-packaged product, I really think natures packaging (the husk or outer leaves) is actually more effective for maintaining the freshness of the product than the plastic now used more and more in the industry, which will be in the ground forever. So the price this week is fantastic, a couple of dollars gets you a lot of corn.
HOW TO PICK
Pick corn with bright green husks and plump kernels.
HOW TO STORE
Store corn in its husk in the crisper section, use within 3 days.
