Pick of the Week - Kanzi Apples

My pick of the week is Kanzi apples. Kanzi is my favourite amongst the many new apples we now grow in Australia. Developed in Belgium, they are a natural cross between a Royal Gala and a Braeburn, very similar in parentage to the Jazz apple. The season runs from mid-March to September.

There are now only 75 growers farming the variety, down from last year as a couple of orchards got burnt out with those incredible bushfires of last summer. The variety has also not really worked in the Queensland climate and so a number of growers up there have discontinued growing them.
