Pick of the Week - Corn on the Cob
My pick of the week this week is corn on the cob. It’s a real favourite with families, all generations seem to love it. We are in the position this week where the market is very well or even oversupplied as Queensland crops from both central and far North Queensland overlap each other.
I much prefer the loose corn to the pre-packaged product, I really think natures packaging (the husk or outer leaves) is actually more effective for maintaining the freshness of the product than the plastic now used more and more in the industry, which will end up in the ground forever. So the price this week is fantastic, a couple of dollars gets you a lot of corn. It’s all fresh new crop product, the weather is perfect up in Queensland, it’s the week to buy a really great product.

Pick corn with bright green husks and plump kernels.
HOW TO STORE
Store corn in its husk in the crisper section of your fridge. Aim to use within a few days.
