In Fruit:
This week, our QLD stores all have fabulous Medjool dates from California. They are at a bargain price! There is also a flush of old-fashioned Paw Paw; these will be cheap this week. Our industry now prefers Papaya, and it's mostly the older generation (like me) who still enjoy the different flavour of paw paw. Berries continue to dominate the fruit offer, and strawberries are just fantastic. Strong supplies of these are also bringing down the raspberry price and will continue to do so. All apples, pears and citrus (not so much mandarins) are also good value and top quality. Blood oranges are still at their best. The first mangoes will be in the stores and should be ready to eat by this weekend. I love that fruit!
In Veg:
It’s all good news this week with veg prices continuing to fall as the weather continues to warm up. This week, it is the highly publicised lettuce that has fallen in price. You will see lettuce prices halved what it was one week ago.. All Harris Farm stores have broccoli or broccolini on special, again at very reasonable prices. This week, imperfect parsnips are a bargain. Snow peas have been extremely dear and will be a quarter of the price they were a fortnight ago.
